The Board of
Education of the Muscatine Community School District met in regular session on Monday, February 12, 2018
at 7 p.m. at City Hall. President Tammi Drawbaugh called the meeting to order.
Directors Tim Bower, John Dabeet, Nathan Mather, and Mary Wildermuth were
present. Director Toby McCarter was absent. Also present were Superintendent
Jerry Riibe, Assistant Superintendent Mike McGrory, and Director of Finance Tom
Anderson.
- The board
recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Visitors and media representatives were welcomed.
- MHS Student Council representative updated the board on recent and
upcoming student council activities.
- Laney Berry,
Jefferson Instructional Coach, along with several students, presented on
Jefferson STEAM.
- The
following citizens spoke to the topic of outsourcing transportation services:

Riibe reviewed the results of the recent Perception Survey that was conducted this
January.

Admin Regulations
- Mia Frommelt
of Bohnsack and Frommelt LLP Certified Public Accountants presented the FY 17
Audit Report to the board.
- Approved accepting and placing on file the audit of FY 2017.
- Approved naming the new MHS Physical Education Facility to honor Chuck Van Hecke.
- Approved the
contract with Stanley Consultants in the amount not to exceed $15,520 for the
MHS Science Lab Feasibility Study.
- Approved the Budget Guarantee Resolution.
- Krista Regennitter,
Director of the Muscatine County ISU Extension, along with two students, presented
information on the Juntos Program.
- The financials for December 2017 were reviewed.
- The upcoming meetings and events were announced:
- February
19, 2018 – No School – President’s Day
- February
26, 2018 – School Board Work Session, 6 p.m., Franklin Elementary
- March
5, 2018 – Board Regular Session, 7 p.m., City Hall (this date is one week
earlier than normal due to Spring Break)
