This Week in Our Schools - 11/9 - 11/13

Scroll down to view pictures of students and staff engaged in learning this past week throughout our district! We have a lot of exciting learning opportunities happening district-wide!

Table of Contents:

COLORADO ELEMENTARY

After last year's Veteran's Day, it was realized that there were a number of staff members that were in the military or had family members in the military. Colorado staff decided to honor them as well as any family members of Colorado students. Any and all students were welcome to bring in photos of family members. Copies of the original photos were made and art teacher Mrs. Foxen, along with music teacher Mrs. Voss, designed the wall on which they were displayed. The background is the lyrics to the song "America." Colorado students and staff feel privileged to honor these brave men and women of the Armed Forces.

GRANT ELEMENTARY

Children in Miss Dindinger's Begindergarten class at Grant School are working hard at Daily 3 Math!  "Math by Myself" consists of number puzzles and other math tasks that must be completed independently.  Children in "Math Writing" work on learning the correct way to write numbers 1-10.  In "Math with Someone," Miss Sitzmann (student teacher) helps a group play a number memory game.

Third grade students from Grant Elementary presented their data notebooks to board members at the school board meeting. Students demonstrated how they take ownership of their learning. The students also led their own parent-teacher conferences in October using the data notebooks.

Mrs. Kulland's 2nd grade students were working on their throwing skills while playing Oscar's Garbage Can.
